Wednesday and Thursday, yesterday and today, these were the biggest days for Makena Resort in years. With a clear vote of 7 to 2, the Maui County Land Use Committee recommended to approve the zoning as suggested by the current resort owners represented by Everett Dowling.

As usual, this post is kept short so you can rather read the Maui News article “Makena Resort debate pushes into overtime” from Wednesday followed by tonight’s Maui News posting to their website: “Council Committee approves Makena Resort Zoning“.

No announcement has been made as to when the readings with the full County Council will commence or what their schedule will be. Tonight’s vote is just a recommendation. So, yes, it is a ‘fast track’ as explained in a previous post, but now the real work will begin. And with the current economic situation in the world, it might be years until anything will change in Makena.

Hot off the Press: Friday, November 21, 2008. Today’s Maui News headline in the printed version sums it up pretty good: “Makena Resort to move forward“. Congratulations!
