My name is Monica Starleaf and I work as REALTOR® Broker with Coldwell Banker Island Properties. Maui has been my home for more than 35 years. I provide my clients with decades of personal experience living, working and raising a family on island. It means everything to me to give my clients an enjoyable, professional experience as they make a purchase that will change their life.
When I first moved to Maui from Southern California in 1978, I was only planning on staying for six months. But I immediately felt at home on the island - many years later, I’m still here. I attended Maui Community College, and then finished my degree in accounting at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Oahu.
For nearly two decades, I have helped people make Maui their home. Before joining Coldwell Banker Island Properties, I worked as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. During those 13 years, I won numerous customer service and national "Top 10% Producer" awards - all while raising my two daughters.
Not only do I have an extensive financial background, I also have a stellar reputation for being honest, trustworthy and walking my clients through every step of the real estate process with a smile and guiding hand. From negotiating with sellers and buyers to showing you a condo or home in South Maui, I will ensure that all of your questions are answered during every step of the sale or purchase process.
I bring years of personal experience buying and selling properties on Maui to every transaction. I’ve navigated the challenges and rewards of homeownership with several Maui properties, mastering the intricacies of property acquisition on the island. I have also owned and managed a vacation condominium, as well as multiple long-term rental properties.
When I’m not guiding my clients through successful sales, you can find me traveling, reading, snorkeling, exercising, hiking, walking my dog, Luna, or riding my horse, Ginger. Both of my grown daughters live on the mainland, in Oregon and in Texas. When I want to get away, Hana is my favorite retreat - I try to escape there several times a year for few days of rest and relaxation at Hamoa.
It is very important to me to give back to the community that I love! Over the years, I have volunteered my time to various causes: PTA president at Haiku School; President of the Hawaii State Dressage Society; and I have organized, prepped and served many hundreds of dinners at the local homeless shelter, Ka Hale A Ke Ola. I have also helped fundraise for organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Maui Food Bank and the Maui Academy of Performing Arts.
