My name is Monica Starleaf and I work as Realtor® Broker with Coldwell Banker Island Properties. I am an efficient, logical and “bottom line” kind of person. People say that I have a heart of gold, and I certainly insist that my clients have an enjoyable, professional experience as they make a purchase that will change their life.
Maui is my home for more than 30 years. I provide my clients with decades of personal experience, living, working and raising a family here on the island. When I first moved to Maui from Southern California in 1978, I was only planning on staying for six months. But I immediately felt at home on the island, and I’m still here. I attended Maui Community College, and then finished my degree in accounting at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on Oahu.
For nearly two decades, I have helped people make Maui their home. I worked as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage for 13 years. During that time, I won numerous customer service and national “Top 10% Producer” awards – all while raising my two daughters.
Not only do I have an extensive financial background, I also have a stellar reputation for being honest, trustworthy and walking my clients through every step of the real estate process. From negotiating with sellers and buyers to showing you a condo or home in South Maui, I will ensure you understand every part of the sale or purchase.
I bring years of experience with Maui real estate to every transaction: I’ve personally navigated the challenges and rewards of homeownership with several Maui properties, and have mastered the intricacies of all matters related to property acquisition here on the island. I have also owned and managed a vacation condo as well as long-term rental property.
Both of my grown daughters currently reside in Oregon. I like to travel – especially to Oregon – and spend my free time exercising, riding my horse, reading, snorkeling and hiking. On Maui, Hana is my favorite getaway: I try to escape several times a year for few days of rest and relaxation.
It is very important to me to give back to the community that I love! Through the years, I have volunteered my time to various causes: PTA president at Haiku School, President of the Hawaii State Dressage Society and I have organized, prepped and served many hundreds of dinners at the local homeless shelter, Ka Hale A Ke Ola. I have also helped fundraise for organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Maui Food Bank, and the Maui Academy of Performing Arts.
