Because of land zoning restrictions by the County of Maui, no further vacation condos will be built within the Wailea Resort or in Makena. The only exception might be within the highly anticipated Makena Golf & Beach Club, after reconstruction of the Makena Beach & Golf Resort has been completed.
The excavation for the expansion began early July 2017.
Papali Wailea is the newest condo in Wailea. The complex was completed in February of 2008. Aside from the limited amount of Andaz Residences in 2013, Hoolei At Wailea is the last and the newest Wailea vacation condo to be constructed in 2007. The Wailea Beach Villas, Kai Malu At Wailea and Kanani Wailea were new developments in 2005 and 2006.
Virtually all other Wailea condos were built in the last century. In recent years, many owners spent more money to execute spectacular renovations, then what they originally paid to purchase their Wailea condos. Just like in Wailea Elua, the individual Wailea condo and home owner associations are continuing to update and modernize the building structures and common facilities. The Wailea Community Association (aka WCA) is in charge of the overall appearance of the Wailea Resort, making sure that Wailea remains one of the world’s leading resort destinations.
